Call for articles
issue n°22-23, 2012
We call practitioners, researchers, academics and other potential contributors to submit an article.
The deadline for submitting your article is 30 November 2011, in order to allow for peer review.
Guidelines for authors are below. Please follow these closely so that you will have less revision to do, if your article is accepted. The process of acceptance is first to submit the article, as a Word document in an attachment to the chief editor, and it will then be referred for peer review. Following this, if it is accepted, you will be informed of any required changes and if it is rejected, you will receive a short summary giving the reasons for this decision.
The Journal is structured in four sections, and articles will be allocated to one of the following:
· Focus on training: Developments in theoretical approaches and structured training methodos.
· Target groups: Socio-educational practices, field experiences and methods concerning community education, preparing for work or other educational actions with different groups (from early childhood to elderly; disabled; marginalised users).
· Social politics: An informative and critical review on national or local politics for social education and social work.
· Book review: readers’ contributions on books of interest for teaching or relevant for practices.

The European Journal of Social Education is an informative and critical review of theory, methods and practices for social education care work and social pedagogy. The Journal is a forum to publish FESET seminar material as a periodical publication as well.

GUIDELINES FOR AN ARTICLE
to be submitted to the FESET JOURNAL:
EUROPEAN JOURNAL OF SOCIAL EDUCATION
The journal is designed to promote discussion between those working in the socio-educational field, and offers opportunities to submit articles in two ways. Special issues are devoted to a particular theme following a FESET Seminar and these alternate with ordinary issues, which are organised in the following four sections: Focus on training, Target Groups, Social Politics and Book Reviews.
Submissions to Ordinary issues can be sent all over the year to the Chief Editor, via e-mail as attached Word file to Eeva Timonen-Kallio (eeva.timonen-kallio (at) turkuamk.fi).
Recommended length of articles is about 4000 words (about 24’000 characters, blank spaces included)
Themed special issues focus on submissions concerning the FESET Seminars or Congress. In case of a special issue, 2 different types of length are generally required:
· Articles based on WORKSHOP presentations: 12’000-18’000 CHARACTERS, BLANK SPACES INCLUDED, WHICH IS ABOUT 2’000-3’000 WORDS;
· PLENARY CONFERENCES: 15’000-20’000 CHARACTERS, BLANK SPACES INCLUDED, WHICH IS ABOUT 2’400-3’400 words.
Please, check the length of the article, in writing under WORD application, by using the menu on the top of your screen. Under: File > Properties > Statistics, you will find the sum of characters and of words of the file.
Please use the instructions and examples of the following 2 pages in writing your article, without any other formatting of style or lay-out. Use Arial throughout for the font, with the following sizes:
- 16 for title in capitals, bold, maximum 2 lines (see example below)
- 14 for your name, institution and country
- 10 for automatic foot note
- 11 for summary in italics
- 14 for main sub-titles in the text
- 12 for text
- 12 bold for under sub-title
- 11 for bibliographical references

Starting from here, and for the following pages, the content of the article is written in Arial 12 Normal. If a subtitle is needed, and if it is of the same importance as Introduction (= main subtitle), use ARIAL 14 bold, as follows:

The complete bibliographical reference of this quotation will be given at the end of the article, under Bibliographical References section, which title is in Arial 14 bold and the content in Arial 11 normal, with italics for the titles of books and for titles of reviews, whereas the title of an article within a review is in normal style, as below:

Appel a soumettre vos articles

Nous invitons les praticiens, chercheurs, enseignants universitaires et autres auteurs potentiels à soumettre un article. Il s'agit d'un numéro spécial, directement liés à l'récent séminaire à Osnabrück, en Allemagne en avril 2010. Nous demandons à ceux qui ont présenté des exposés et des ateliers de retravailler le matériel suivant les lignes directrices ci-dessous Journal et de soumettre à notre Journal prochain numéro.
Nous prévoyons d'imprimer ce numéro pour la Conférence ENSACT prochaine à Bruxelles, en Belgique en avril 2011. Cela signifie que le délai pour soumettre votre article est le 30 Octobre 2009 de manière à rendre possible la procédure d'acceptation des articles.
Lignes directrices pour les auteurs sont ci-dessous. S’il vous plaît suivez ces étroitement de sorte que vous aurez moins de révision à faire, si votre article est accepté. Le processus d'acceptation est d'abord de présenter l'article, comme un document Word dans une pièce jointe à les rédacteur en chef, et il sera alors soumis pour examen par les pairs. Suite à cela, si elle est acceptée, vous serez informé de toute les modifications nécessaires et si elle est rejetée, vous recevrez un bref résumé indiquant les raisons de cette décision.
Le Journal est organisé en quatre sections :
· Focus sur la formation : Développements d'approches théoriques et méthodes de formation.
· Groupes cibles : Pratiques socio-éducatives, expériences de terrain et méthodes d'intervention avec différentes populations (de la prime enfance aux personnes âgées; populations marginalisées; handicaps divers)
· Politiques sociales : Information et revue critique de politiques sociales nationales et locales en lien avec l'éducation sociale.
· Livres à vous : Présentation de livres intéressants pour le travail de nos écoles et utiles pour la pratique professionnelle.

Le Journal offre à celles et ceux qui oeuvrent dans le champ de l’éducation sociale l’opportunité d’alimenter le débat pas la soumission d’articles, que ce soit lors de la publication de numéro spéciaux à thème, à l’occasion des séminaires ou congrès de FESET ou de numéros ordinaires, qui sont organisés selon quatre sections : Focus sur la formation, Groupes-cible, Politiques sociales et Livres à vous.
Les articles à publier dans les numéros ordinaires peuvent être soumis durant toute l’année comme ficher Word attaché à un e-mail adressé à les rédacteurs en chef, Eeva Timonen-Kallio,eeva.timonen-kallio@turkuamk.fi.
Leur longueur sera d’environ 4’000 mots ou 24’000 caractères, espaces blanc inclus.
Les numéros spéciaux publiés pour un Séminaire ou un Congrès FESET, comportent 2 types de longueur :
· PRESENTATION en ATELIER: 12’000-18’000 SIGNES, ESPACES INCLUS, soit 2’000-3’000 mots;
· CONFERENCE PLENIERES: 15’000-20’000 SIGNES, ESPACES INCLUS, soit 2’400-3’400 mots.
La longueur de l’article peut être vérifiée lors de la rédaction sous le logiciel WORD, en utilisant la barre menu en haut de l’écran. Sous : Fichier > Propriétés > Statistiques, il y a le nombre de signes et de mots.
Veuillez utiliser les indications et exemples des 2 pages suivantes pour rédiger votre article, sans utiliser aucun autre style ou mise en forme, en caractère Arial aux tailles suivantes :
- 16 pour le titre, majuscules, gras, maximum deux lignes
- 14 pour le nom de l’auteur, son institution et le pays,
- 10 pour les notes de bas de page automatiques
- 11 pour le résumé, en italiques
- 14 pour un sous-titre principal dans le texte
- 12 pour le texte
- 12 gras pour un sous-titre inférieur
- 11 pour les références bibliographiques

Ici le texte se poursuit, toujours en Arial 12 Normale, pendant des lignes et des lignes, mais aussitôt que le besoin d’un sous-titre inférieur s’impose, utilisez Arial 12 gras, comme suit :

Je vais de l’avant avec le contenu de mon article, page après page sans aucune autre mise en forme ou définition de style, sans jamais utiliser des tabulateurs et autres textes rentrés, manipulations qui compliquent inutilement la vie à celui qui fait la mise en page. Je vais de l’avant pour ainsi dire au kilomètre, mis à part l’indication des sous-titres majeurs et mineurs qui organisent mon texte et dont je suis le seul à pouvoir décider.
Si je dois citer des extraits d’articles ou livres à l’intérieur de mon texte, j’utilise les italiques en mettant le texte entre guillemets « » comme suit « The third principle is social responsibility. Sometimes active citizenship is too much focused on participating in democracy and politics. » (Van Ewijk, 2006, p. 34). La référence complète de cette citation ne sera donnée qu’à la fin, dans les références bibliographiques, dont le titre est en Arial 14 gras et le contenu en Arial 11 normal, mais attention : on utilise les italiques pour les titres de livres et pour les titres des revues, alors que le titre de l’article au sein de la revue est écrit en style normal, comme vous le voyez dans la bibliographie ci-dessous :
